Arthur was found on the road by a girl who could not keep him herself, so she brought him to the shelter. The transition to shelter life was extremely difficult for him. During his first few months there, Arthur remained in a state of profound sadness and emotional withdrawal. He needed a lot of time to begin recovering. He also formed strong bonds with people he learned to trust, and their departures were particularly painful for him. When someone he trusted walked away, Arthur would cry and call out after them, clearly struggling with the separation. Arthur is an affectionate dog who loves human company, and life in the shelter has been especially hard on him. Despite everything he has been through, Arthur is a loving dog who seeks affection and enjoys being close to people. Arthur travels very well in the car and walks nicely on the lead. He is also happy to have his paws washed. He absolutely loves food. He usually takes food carefully from people's fingers, but because he loves eating so much, he can sometimes grab a piece from someone's hand a little too enthusiastically. Arthur also has a particular love for sitting in armchairs. During a visit to the veterinary clinic, he actively sought affection from everyone who came in, asking each visitor for attention. Arthur is generally neutral towards other dogs. However, his behaviour around them depends on the circumstances. It is important that there are no resources nearby that could become a point of conflict and that the other dog is not overexcited in his presence. Arthur has a shortened warning period when showing signs of discomfort, so it is important to be mindful of his boundaries and recognise his signals. He would be best suited to a home without children and probably as an only dog
