RONNIE approximately 18 months old, GSD cross, male, neutered now in UK Foster, Mancetter, CV19

When Ronnie arrived from Cyprus in July, he was a shadow of the dog he longed to be — frightened, unsure, and carrying the weight of a past he couldn’t tell us about. You could see it in the way he held himself, bracing for the kind of treatment no animal should ever know. Whatever happened to him over there, it stole his trust… and left him believing people were something to fear.

But even in those first moments, his eyes told a different story. Behind all that trembling and uncertainty was a boy who wanted to believe in kindness. A boy who had every reason to shut down, yet still looked up with a softness that said he was desperate for love. He didn’t know how to ask for it — but you could feel it. All he wanted was to be held, to be shown that humans can be gentle, to finally have someone choose him for the right reasons.

Ronnie’s past may be a mystery, but his heart isn’t. It’s right there, waiting for someone patient enough to help him rewrite his story.  

He can be very social with dogs and people once he gets to know them.  

If he were adopted by a family then children will need to be aged 12+, he can live either with a family, a couple or a single person.  Whoever adopts him will need to travel to meet in Mancetter a few times as he will need lengthy introductions and lots of trust building to start.

Ronnie is starting to blossom into the sweetest, most loyal boy. He walks beautifully on the lead now, staying close to my leg as if he’s checking in for reassurance, lifting his eyes to me every few steps with that gentle, hopeful look he has. He’s learned that cuddles are safe, that hands can be kind, and he leans in for fuss and kisses like a dog who’s finally beginning to trust the world.

He’s still nervous with new people — especially if someone approaches him too quickly — but that’s just the story of his past speaking. Once he realises he’s safe, his whole body softens. Today I brushed him for the first time; he got a little jumpy when I reached his back end, but he tried so hard, and he settled beautifully. He’s a gorgeous, sensitive soul who just needs someone patient enough to let him grow at his own pace.  He loves his walks and is good with other dogs. 

Ronnie has been vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, fully blood tested for infectious diseases and has a passport.
