Nancy, our sweet 5 year old pointer girl, is ready to find her forever home

Judging by Nancy’s breed and appearance, it is quite likely that she belonged to a hunter, bred for puppies, then dumped once she got too ‘old’. She is the most gentle girl that gets on with everyone—dogs, people, children. She has a kind soul that doesn’t deserve the life she has led so far. Now it’s our chance to turn that around and make sure the rest of her life is worth living.

Since arriving at the shelter she has been loving and friendly, although, of course, cautious at first. She walks really well on the leash and does not pull. We don’t think she will need an overly active home but will for sure enjoy her walks. Overall she is a well rounded girl and has shown everyone just how lovely she is and how deserving of a loving home she is.

Unfortunately for Nancy, she has leishmania. We are really hoping this doesn’t mean she is overlooked. Please don’t let this disease define her. It is easily managed with cheap tablets, doesn’t affect how long she will live, doesn’t affect insurance premiums, and cannot be transmitted to other pets or humans. Many dogs live long and happy lives with leishmania. Nancy is otherwise a healthy girl. We just hope someone sees how wonderful she is regardless of leishmania.
