All about this dog…
Bailey
Bailey may not be the dog who immediately draws attention among many others. He does not bark for attention, throw himself against the fence, or push other dogs aside to jump on people. When approached by someone he does not know, he tends to step back in his kennel rather than seek attention. At the same time, Bailey appears emotionally stable and balanced, which makes him easy to handle. He stayed in my home for six days before and after his castration. In a new environment he was clearly cautious, but he adjusted smoothly and was easy to manage indoors. There was no whining, excessive jumping, or inappropriate behavior in the house. He spent much of his time calmly sniffing and exploring. Bailey showed clear fear toward my 16-year-old son and is also fearful of men at the shelter. However, with a calm approach and patience, his trust can gradually be gained. On walks, Bailey behaved well on the leash. Scared in the beginning he then explored the neighborhood carefully, with a lot of sniffing. He explored the house in the same way, methodically sniffing every corner. Sniffing is clearly very important to him, and he would likely enjoy sniffing games and enrichment activities. He usually stayed close to me during walks and rarely moved far away. He plays with other dogs at the shelter, and I also introduced Bailey to one of my dogs, a miniature schnauzer, and they had no problems interacting, as expected. Regarding toilet habits, he usually held his urine successfully and always defecated outside, which seems to come from a natural instinct. Although Bailey did not have enough time to fully relax and show his full personality, overall, he seems to be an easy and emotionally stable dog. He does not bark and does not show overly excitable puppy behavior, though he still urinates somewhat like a puppy. He is an exceptionally enthusiastic sniffer. He is the greatest sniffer I have ever seen. Bailey could live in many types of families, but he would be best suited to people who enjoy walks and hiking. He could live in a city environment as well, as long as his strong need to sniff and explore is respected.
