Mocha
💔 MOCHA, THE FORGOTTEN DOG 💔 Mocha has been waiting in the pound for over a year… still hoping someone will look past her “breed,” her strong appearance, and the unfair stigma that follows her. A couple of months ago, she suffered a serious paw injury that required surgery. On top of that, her fur became patchy due to a painful skin infection. The small volunteer team helping the dogs in those pounds—myself and two other lovely ladies—desperately searched for a foster home where Mocha’s fragile body could heal in comfort, away from cold concrete floors and metal bars. No one stepped forward. Mocha recovered alone, in silence, behind those bars. A few months later, when I revisited the pound, my heart broke all over again. Her skin condition had returned—worse this time. More missing fur. More visible suffering. We believe the stress of long-term confinement is taking a terrible toll on both her body and her spirit. Every time I visit, the light in Mocha’s eyes dims a little more. The spark that once lit up when we approached her kennel is fading with each passing day, week, and month. During our short walks and precious moments of petting and cuddles, she clings to every second of kindness… only to be returned to the same lonely kennel. The hope in her eyes is fading. Her spirit is breaking. I see her silently suffering, able to do nothing but hope that someone will finally step forward to foster or adopt her. And as myself and the two other volunteers watch, it’s hard not to feel our own hope slipping away too… but giving up on Mocha is not an option. Mocha is a 3-year-old Pitbull girl, weighing 21.5 kg, and she is an absolute sweetheart with a heart full of love. The moment you reach through her cage, she leans in for neck scratches and affection. She adores cuddles and would happily be a lapdog, always ready to snuggle up and give love in return. She’s also a dream on a lead, walking calmly by your side. With her gentle nature and affectionate personality, Mocha would be a loyal, loving companion for anyone ready to open their heart. She seems okay with other dogs, though this will need to be confirmed. Mocha has already suffered far too much alone. She deserves comfort. She deserves love. She deserves a home where she can finally heal and thrive. 🙏 If you can help Mocha—even by fostering—please message us. She’s been waiting far too long. Mocha is currently in Cyprus and is searching for a loving forever home in Cyprus (Europe can be considered too). She will be neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, treated for parasites, and RBU will be provided.
