This is Brown. He doesn’t push to be first in line for treats. He doesn’t run to greet strangers. Instead, Brown watches quietly from a distance, his soft eyes filled with a lifetime of stories he can’t tell. Brown is one of the many abandoned hunting dogs in Cyprus—discarded when no longer “useful,”. When he first came to the shelter, he was terrified of people. He cowered in the corner, trembling at the sound of footsteps, flinching at the touch of a kind hand. It broke our hearts. But over time, something beautiful started to happen. Slowly—very slowly—Brown began to learn that not all humans would hurt him. He began to trust. A little tail wag here, a gentle nuzzle there. He still hides when strangers come, but if he knows you… he leans in. He gives you his heart. Brown is shy with people, but once he bonds with you, he is deeply affectionate and loyal. And with other dogs? He’s wonderful. Calm, gentle, happy to share his space and his love. Other dogs give him confidence. They show him that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. Brown has come so far. Now he just needs a home. He’s looking for someone patient, someone kind, someone who understands that healing takes time—but love makes it all worth it. He would thrive in a calm home, ideally with another dog to help guide him.
